I'm not sure it's normal per se, but I have knitted a fair bit with Manos and do recall variation in skein size.Gigi looks GREAT!And what a sweet vignette of you and your mother. Knitting together. I'm glad it was a good visit.

Well, Manos (and most yarn) is sold by weight. With more evenly spun yarns the yardage is pretty accurate. Manos, however, is thick-and-thin. That does seem like a pretty big difference, but if one skein had many more thin parts it would make sense.

Gigi is coming along really well. I can't wait to see it finished.I love knitting with my Mum too.

I always feel like I have more left over yarn with a second skein in general....Casting on takes up yarn, as well as swatch making (of course). However you had such a significant difference, man, makes me wonder about Manos....I want my money's worth! BEAUTIFUL scarf!
