Vintage Cami
I have started the Vintage Cami from Artisokka. My original plan was to start Green Gable, but I didn't have the right needles. Then I was going to knit Glampyre's Tubular Camisole, but, again, I didn't have the right needles. Ok, I will be ordering some needles. Anyways, I do have the needles for the Vintage Cami, so Vintage Cami it is. I have a plan with this little top, not only do I want to get a great fit in the boobal area, but I also want to have a great fit in the hippy bummal area. So I took some measurements, and I was honest with myself. Sigh...my bum is big. And my boobs aren't. So my problem is that while my upper half measure 34" around, my bottom half measures 36". That's not actually so bad, easy enough to modify that, but I am also short waisted. Tops need to measure 14" from my armpit or else I look stupid, feel fat and won't wear them. Again, easy enough, just lengthen a little right? Wrong, see my hips measure 36" at a length of 12" inches from my armpit, but once I add the 2" of length to get 14" and the illusion of a long waist, well then Bam! all of a sudden I am 38" around! Man, I wish I could share some of that bounty with my upper half. So anyways, I am trying to knit this cami, to fit my body, but preferably without a constant line of increases from my hips to waist. Right now I am planning on double decreases to my waist and than single increases to my bust, I am hoping that works and doesn't look to obvious. Anyways, I will show you after the weekend what I've got. But, first I'm going to knit a washcloth. My friend is visiting from Switzerland tomorrow with her brand new baby, and I want to tuck a couple of washcloths into her gift. I actually have all the petals knit now, so I will just spend the next little bit of the evening finishing the center, and then I can spend some more time on the Cami. And I found another top I like Licorice Whip by Blue Alvarez. Poop! I don't have time to knit all these sweaters, but Blue Sky Cotton is soooo soft, and I covet the Thistle color. I am going to daydream about it for a while :-)

Vintage cami is pretty and classic. It's great that you know your sweater measurements so well. I'm also realising that knowing my own measurements help to ensure a fit that I will end up being happy to wear.

Some wonderful projects you're planning (that Licorice Whip is fantastic!) Nice color for the vintage cami, getting that just right fit is always tough. Believe me, you're not alone in the hippy/bummal area. :)

Good for you for planning ahead and making that vintage cami into something that will truly fit and flatter you. Who cares what the measurements are as long as it fits your bod?!?! Also, I spied Licorice Whip this week, too, and am thinking about adding it to my loooong dream list. V. cute.

Oh, I can't wait to see more progress photos of your Vintage Cami - I'm sure with all the measuring you've been doing it'll be perfect! It's so hard getting knitted items to have the "perfect fit", I'm very curious to see how this project of yours will turn out. But I'm absolutely sure that it will really fit and flatter you! Happy Knitting!

I love the color you chose for the vintage cami! Is the yarn strechy? Would it still fit (and be comfy) if you left it at 36" (or went up to 37") at the bottom? or can you make it hit higher on the hips? Hope it all works out! The washcloth is a very pretty color too. all the colors complemented each other so well in that photo. :)

Areli, that Vintage Cami sounds like it's going to look great! There's no point in making something you're not going to feel comfortable in, cause you'll never wear it anyway, right? Good for you for biting the bullet, taking the measurements, and getting to work.

I'm just so proud of you for spoiling yourself with your talent lately. For a while there all you were making was stuff for your beautiful children, but now look at you! Yay!

Do you do something particular to your photos to give them that soothing glow? They always look so...I don't know, cool and lovely. It's true, there are just too many wonderful patterns out there. People talk about Stash Amassed Beyond Life Expectancy; I always feel as though the bigger problems is too many patterns to knit than I could ever get to.
