Old and New

P1020050

I have dug deep into the knitting basket and finally finished some really old knits. Both of these are over a year, but now they are done, done, done! Knitty's Cheesylove and Artisokka's Vintage  Cami. I can't find a link to the Vintage Cami, the site seems to be down right now. Anyways, you guys deserve modelled shots and a full write up, but I am going to make you wait a little bit. Sigh, I made these last year to fit my measurements exactly, especially the Vintage Cami. It was looking great last year, but this year not so much :-( Will take a few more months of wrestling with the baby weight, before I feel comfortable wearing it. And Cheesylove, well normally I would never, ever need shortrows to make some room for the girls. Normally, I don't really have any girls to hang out with. Right now, my cheesy little hearts are perched above my bustline and it looks a bit silly. I'm fairly confident my chest will deflate soon, and then I will then give you some lovely pictures.

In the meantime I have some new books to drool over. I know there has been a few different reviews posted of these lovely books, but in the absence of anything else interesting to post, I thought I would share my favorites. Just so everyone knows, Lingerie Style is now my favorite knitting book in the whole world. Flipping through, every page has something gaspworthy. Well, there's a few clunkers, but I counted 19 loves, and I would say that's pretty amazing!

Even the lingerie in this book is breathtaking. I never really posted pictures of the delicate little underthings, but I'm strongly tempted to make some. On the one hand, I think it's pretty silly to knit underwear, on the other hand, this is some really pretty underwear. And I can make it to fit me exactly which  would be kind of nice. (just to clarify, I'm thinking of the lacy little nighties and such, I am not planning to knit any thongs!)

And then there is Runway Style. This one didn't get me quite as excited about new projects, but there are definitely a few keepers. I love, love, love this cardigan. My fingers actually itch to knit it, but then my brain tells my fingers about my WIP pile and my fingers try to behave themselves.

Here are a couple more I really like, especially the sweater. It's made in a bulky yarn but look how interesting it is. I like it a lot.

I went out yesterday and bought myself a sewing table. I have decided I need to sew something and soon. So, yeah, some of that is coming up.

A little bit random

Today is such a beautiful day. It was a bit gloomy and overcast when I woke up, but then the sun broke through and there's a little breeze so it's not too hot. Perfect.

Here is Jarv on the deck enjoying the sunshine and his dad's pretty flowers. That's a spoon in his mouth, he was munching his lunch outside.

I am lacking focus in my knitting right now, my basket has 8 sweaters in various states of knittedness. 2 of them are from waaaaay back, but the other 6 have all been started since Simon was born. There has been a fair amount of progress on all of them, but none of them are getting my exclusive attention. This is the sweater I started last night. Silver Tuesday's Anastasia. I'm using Nashua Creative Focus for this, and although it's not my favorite yarn to knit with, I think I will really enjoy the fuzziness it gives my sweater.

The daisies are from Jarvis for mother's day.

A little yarn p0rn, this was one of my birthday gifts, from ummm....me.  It's Fleece Artist Merino Sock in Burgundy. It's so pretty it doesn't have to be knit, just gazed upon and adored :-) Red Bird Knits has a sweet deal where if you buy on your birthday you get 10% off plus free shipping. Now how could I resist that?

Although, if I had known what I was getting for birthday gifts, it may have been easier to resist. It's like my family banded together and decided that there sole purpose for this birthday was to make me squeal with delight! Almost every single gift was a little pile of money with the directions to go and spend it on whatever yarn I would like.  I have been having so much fun spending my birthday money on  pretty somethings.  I am dragging it out though, as much as fun as it is to spend everything at once, I am enjoying buying a little here and a little there and making my birthday last longer. Which is why I am still talking about my birthday over 2 weeks later!

A Little Daydreaming

P1010843

I have been putting away Moosebaby's too small clothes. He's wearing size 6 months. He's 9 weeks old! Anyways, I thought I would take a few pictures of him in his Daydream before I put it away. Modelled knits are so much more appealing than unoccupied ones.

P1010874

This is the Daydream from Rowan Babies knit up in Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. The yarn has held up really well, there is a small bit of pilling, but it had to be washed everytime Simon wore it. He can't keep his cookies down and spit up on it each and every time. I can't believe I spent 4 months knitting this boy little baby knits and he has taken 2 months to grow out of them all. Sheesh!

PS. It's my birthday, and I have been royally spoiled! I have a wonderful family and they make me feel like a million bucks! Thanks Knittypants family!!

One Sock Down

P1010902

I was too excited about this sock to not post about it. Yay, yay, yay!! I really love it, so nice and high, it makes me feel so happy.  I almost want to hold off spring so I can wear it, but that would be a bit silly, since it doesn't have a mate yet. I would look dumb walking around in one knee high.

Thank you so much for all your input on how to bind off. I was all set to go with the EZ sewn bindoff when, Turtlegirl convinced me to do the K2togtbl, put back on left needle, K2togtbl, put back on left needle, repeat till done. She pointed out to me that the K2tog way was easier to rip then the sewn bindoff. Since I ended up ripping twice, I am glad I went with that bindoff, and I am quite happy with how it looks and fits. I will save trying the EZ bindoff for another sock.

And here's some proof that there is no second sock syndrome going on. I won't move very fast on it, but eventually it will be done. Our family is going camping this weekend and since my sock is a driving sock I should get a fair amount done on the drive to and from.

And here is a picture of my other baby. She is so painfully cute, but she is also painfully moody. Sort of like a  pmsing teenager stuck in the body of a two year old. How will I ever deal with real teens! Ack!
