I just finished up this Shoulder Bag. This is the first thing I have made that is absolutedly perfect! I love the fabric, the colors, the shape and style of this bag. I love the button. Everytime I walk past it hanging on my chair I smile and when I took it out shopping I felt so happy and young, without a care in the world. Pretty wonderful when a simple bag can do that for you.
The bag was made from Tiny Happy's Shoulder Bag Tutorial. I first spied it on Smoking Hot Needle's blog, where I fell deeply in love and dug out my sewing machine, and bought a table to set it on. Then of course I spent all my money on a bunch of new fabric all because I was so inspired by this bag. I have been thinking I should make another one, but this one is perfect. Do I need more perfection or shall I just be satisfied with this little bit of bliss?
Here's the button. I actually stole this button without realizing. Jarvis had been playing outside and found the button and brought it into the house and set in on the shelf next to my bedroom. I for some reason assumed he was giving it to me and was so excited since it went perfectly with my bag. Well after I had sewn it on I went and paraded in front of my delighted audience (my kids have to put up with me, I feed them) Kaelen finally looked up and said, "Yeah, it's nice mom. Fiona and Simon didn't even acknowledge me. And Jarvis says, "Mom, that's my button!" I said that I had thought he had given it to me because he had put it next to my bedroom, he looked at me with disgust and informed me that wasn't the case. So I asked him if I could have the button, he replied that it was his button. Ummm....I haven't removed it from my bag, and he hasn't insisted. I'm just going to go with that and if he brings it up I am planning to give him candy. Bad mom.
This is the most pleasant way I have been spending the last few evenings. I just finished both of them up last night, and will have a finished shawl to show you soon. But, not to soon, I am taking a vacation with my 4 sweet kiddos for the next 2 and a half weeks. So I will have to leave you all in suspense and hope you are still around when I get back to see my pretty shawl. I am planning to keep the knitting simple for this trip. All I am taking is sock yarn and will knit round and round to my heart's content. Peter, is taking a vacation from us and going to see his brother in Montreal, then he's planning to visit New York and I'm jealous. But I get to see my Grandma and that's just a little bit better so it's all good. Talk to you soon :-)
