Friday Harbor Socks

P1050021

Well, I've just made it! I think I will be starting my March socks right away and hopefully not having last minute panic knitting.

P1050026

These are the Friday Harbor Socks from Knitting on the Road by Nancy Bush. I used Mountain Colors Weaver's Wool Quarters, color Rosehip.

The pattern is pretty enough, I had to go up two needle sized to get the socks to fit around my calves, then I went back down in needle size for the foot of the socks. They fit fairly well, but I still need to block them.

I am in love with the yarn, it's just wonderfully good stuff, I am going to being buying some more as soon as this yarn diet is through. I think I should always keep a little in my stash from now on, it's the most  wonderful stuff.

Sweet Pretty Yarn

P1040991

This is my oh, so pretty, last shipment from The Sweet Sheep Self-Striping Club. This is Berry Dreamy, by The Sweet Sheep. This perfectly satisfies the deep craving I've been having lately for pink yarn.

The no buying yarn thing has been going well. Every once in a while I go window shopping and fill up my cart, but I always leave the yarn on the virtual shelves. I figure I need to practice shopping for later. Don't want to lose my skills.

This is the little sweater Kaelen has been working on for Simon, she's actually finished all the knitting and I am going to help her with the seaming. I've asked her to please be patient with me because I have a sock I need to finish knitting first for the Sock A Month Knitalong. Being sick really put a crimp in all my plans, and now I am in a race with a sock to the end of the month.

Makemyday And thanks to Aquaknits, Winding the Skein, The Whole Ball of Yarn and Zigzag Stitch for awarding me. What warm fuzzy feelings you've given me :-) It was very encouraging in this crazy, busy past month.

I am going to ask you to forgive me for not naming 10 more bloggers. I am really late on this one, and so many  have already done it, but also, the baby is crying and I have to make breakfast for 4 hungry monkeys. Time is not on my side!

I will be back on Friday, hopefully having won my sock race.

A First

P1040948

How does an entire year pass so quickly. All those sleep deprived nights and crazy busy days, and here we are one year later and my baby has grown and changed so much! Now he's into everything he can reach and trying to figure out how to get into what he can't reach. He's wrapped each member of this family, firmly around his little finger and is not letting go.

I was sick last week (when his actual birthday was, this post is a bit late) and feeling weepy that I felt too bad to make Simon's birthday cake. I love making my kids birthday cakes and I really didn't want store bought cake for my last baby's first birthday.

Well, Kaelen stepped up to the plate and made this beautiful birthday cake for her little brother. You know this cake was a thousand times better than any I could have made, it had so much love wrapped up in it.

My oldest and my youngest, don't they look like they are up to something?

Happy Birthday, Simon, you fill me with joy, and I am so delighted to be your mom.
